Apple Crumble VI

I found this recipe on Kinna’s blog. It is super good and simple. I have added some marzipan.

Marzipan is a wonderful ingredient and it can be frozen so you always have some when you need it. It’s also easier to grate when it’s frozen. Because of the added marzipan I have cut down on the amount of sugar. A crumble is normally made from equal amounts of flour, sugar and butter: 1/3 flour, 1/3 sugar and 1/3 butter. The addition of marzipan and the reduction of sugar ruins this harmony, but I don’t think it becomes any less crisp.

The recipe is written as I made it.

Serves 2 persons



Preheat the oven to 200C.

Peel the apples and cut them into wedges. Place the wedges in a plastic bag and sprinkle the cinnamon over. Close the bag and shake it. Place the apple wedges in an ovenproof dish (17 cm). Mix flour, sugar, butter and marzipan with your fingers, but don’t mix too much. The dough is supposed to be crumbly. Spread the dough over the apples.

Bake the crumble for 20-30 minutes to it is golden on top.

Serve the crumble warm and with sour cream, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
