Granola with chia, cocoa nibs and nuts

Granola can consist of anything you like within the grain, seeds, nuts and dried fruit categories. Here I have put together a deliciously crunchy granola, but you can change out the nuts with other nuts or the dried fruit with other dried fruits.


  • 150 g old-fashioned oats
  • 100 ml desiccated coconut
  • 50 ml chia seeds
  • 100 ml sunflower seeds
  • 40 g pecan nuts
  • 25 g almonds
  • 35 g butter
  • 1 spsk oil (neutral to the taste)
  • 130 g honey
  • 70 g mixed dried fruits (here I have used blueberries and mango)
  • 20 g cocoa nibs


Preheat the oven to 140C degrees.

Mix oats, coconut, chia seeds and sunflower seeds in a large bowl. Chop the pecans and almonds and put them into the bowl.

In a saucepan, melt butter, oil and honey. The mixture must not boil, but just reach the boiling point (when it simmers along the sides of the pan and just below the surface, but it doesn’t bubble). Pour the mixture over the oats in the bowl and stir well. Use a baking sheet or 35×25cm baking pan and line it with baking paper. Pour the granola onto it. Spread it out thinly and place it in the oven.

Bake it for 40 min. or until it is golden brown. Stir the mixture after 20 min. and again 10 min. after to get the granola equally toasted.

Meanwhile, chop the dried fruit into small pieces. When the granola comes out of the oven, you add the fruit and the cocoa nibs.

Let it cool completely before storing it in an airtight glass or container.
